2024 Spring Road Restrictions Established

The board agreed to a resolution establishing the 2024 spring road restrictions. During the spring thaw, roadways are more susceptible to damage from heavy loads due to freeze/thaw cycles and saturated soil conditions, which can weaken the base of the roadway structure. Anoka County implements spring road restrictions concurrently with MnDOT and they remain in place no more than eight weeks. For more information, click HERE. To watch the video, click HERE.

Roundabout Planned at Evergreen Blvd., 85th Ave. NW 

The board agreed to enter into a joint powers agreement with the City of Coon Rapids for an intersection improvements project at 85th Avenue NW and Evergreen Boulevard NW in the cities of Coon Rapids and Fridley. The improvements include construction of a roundabout to address safety concerns for motorists and pedestrians, provide adequate drainage, safe pedestrian accommodations, and an improved intersection for current and future traffic demands. Intersection Improvements Planned at Mississippi St., 7th St. NE 

The board agreed to enter into a professional services agreement with SRF Consulting for the design, environmental documentation, and intersection improvements at Mississippi Street and 7th Street NE in Fridley. In 2022, Anoka County, in partnership with the City of Fridley, applied for and received Highway Safety Improvement Project (HSIP) federal funding in the amount of $1,080,000 for this project. Signals to be Installed at Lexington Ave./ 122nd Ave.  

The board agreed to a purchase of services agreement with Stonebrooke Engineering for the signalization of Lexington Avenue at 122nd Avenue NW. Improvements include construction of a traffic control signal system to address safety concerns for motorists and pedestrians, updated pedestrian accommodations, and an improved intersection for current and future traffic demands. Intersection Improvements Planned at 85th Ave. NE, Highway 65

The board agreed to enter into a cooperative construction agreement with MnDOT for intersection improvements at 85th Avenue NE and Highway 65 in the cities of Blaine and Spring Lake Park. This project includes the rehabilitation/replacement of existing traffic signal systems and ADA improvements at various intersections. This project is scheduled for construction in 2024. Board Accepts Donations for Parks Department 

The board agreed to accept the following donations to the Parks Department: miscellaneous funds in the amount of $364.30 to fund maintenance and improvements to the county park system; a $25,000 donation from Connexus Energy to fund natural and cultural history programming for youth; a $4,629 donation from Nick Roberts and the Roberts family to fund maintenance and improvements to the Riedel Farmhouse; and a $21,225 donation from various donations to fund the Cedar Creek Memorial Project.
