Donations Accepted for MedLink Program

For many years, various organizations have donated to the county to support funding the annual MedLink Volunteer Driver recognition program. This year, nine different organizations and individuals donated, with those donations totaling $3,540. For more information on this item, click HERE.

Roundabout to be Constructed at Sunset Ave., Main St.

The board adopted a resolution authorizing the county to enter into a construction agreement with MnDOT for the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Main Street and Sunset Avenue, in the cities of Blaine and Lino Lakes. The project is scheduled to begin construction this spring and be completed by fall. For more information on this item, click HERE.

Roundabout to be Constructed at Viking Blvd., Rum River Blvd. 

The board adopted a resolution authorizing the county to enter into a construction agreement with MnDOT for construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Viking Boulevard NW and Rum River Boulevard NW, in the City of Oak Grove. Bridge Priority List Amended

Recent inspections by the Engineering Firm TKDA revealed that the bridge on 44th Avenue NE, over the BNSF Railway in Fridley, has dropped below 60 (scale is 1-100) on the Local Bridge Planning Index. Subsequently, the board adopted a resolution to move that bridge up on the county’s bridge priority list, which means this bridge will be a priority when the county applies for state bridge bonds to assist with funding and/or replacement of the bridge. Roundabout to be constructed at Hodgson Rd., County Rd. 

The board approved entering into a contract with Ramsey County for the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Hodgson Road and County Road J./Ash St. W, in the cities of Lino Lakes and Shoreview. Coon Lake Shop to be Replaced

The board approved a package of contracts related to the replacement of the existing Coon Lake maintenance facility, which is currently used by the county’s Transportation and Parks departments. For more information on this item, click HERE. 

Donations Accepted for Juvenile Center

The board adopted a resolution accepting donations from Operation No Limits, a nonprofit organization, to the Anoka County Juvenile Center and Anoka County Juvenile Field Unit. Food items and supplies were donated –– these items will be used to provide support and resources to youth who are transitioning back into the community. Grant Accepted for Tree Removal, Ash Tree Replacement

The board authorized a Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Shad Tree Program Bonding Grant agreement for $500,000 for hazard tree removal and ash tree replacement throughout the Anoka County Park and Trail system. Coon Creek Bank Stabilization Project Planned

The Coon Creek Watershed District has agreed to collaborate with Anoka County and reimburse the county up to $155,000 to complete the Coon Creek bank stabilization construction. This is the first phase of the larger bridge, culvert and trail reconstruction project anticipated to begin this year. The Mississippi Regional Trail pedestrian bridge in Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park has been closed due to unsafe/failing bridge abutments caused by the Mississippi and Coon Creek streambank erosion. Funding Sought to Replace Pavilion at Kordiak Park 

The board adopted a resolution supporting a funding application to the Minnesota DNR for replacement of the pavilion at Kordiak Park in Columbia Heights. The pavilion was recently demolished, due to unsafe conditions. If the funding is awarded, it will cover 50 percent of the replacement cost. For more information on this item, click HERE. 

Violent Crime Enforcement Teams Grant Contract Approved

For many years, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office has administered and participated in the Violent Crime Program that combatS drug abuse and related violent criminal activities. The bord approved the 2024 grant contract agreement between the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Justice Programs, and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office in the amount of $609,188. Commissioner Matt Look Announces His Departure

District 1 Anoka County Commissioner Matt Look, who has served on the board for 14 years, announced at the end of the meeting that he leaving the board. He was recently hired by the City of East Bethel to be that municipality’s next city administrator. To watch the video on this item, click HERE.
